It is best to plant only container plants in the summer. We do not recommend planting bare-root, field dug or newly divided plants in the summer. The transplanted shock can be fatal.
Some of our favorite showstopper, sun loving summer plants include lantana, hibiscus, knock-out roses & salvias. Our team is skilled in determining the right place in your garden for the right plant.
Watering
While it's true that summer heat can increase water evaporation and create drier conditions, proper watering techniques can ensure your flowers receive the hydration they need.
Irrigation monitoring is included in our garden management service. Garden Managers are conducting routine checks on your system to ensure adequate watering.
Mulching Magic
Applying a layer of organic mulch around your plants can work wonders in hot weather. Mulching helps retain moisture, regulates soil temperature, and suppresses weed growth. Spread a generous layer of mulch around the base of your plants, keeping it a few inches away from the stems to prevent rotting.
Bed Preparation
Our Installation department follows a proven procedure for bed preparation. Remove bad soil and replace with high quality, mixed soil with a little compost and tilling the beds to incorporate the old and new soil is critical. Additionally, we only add organic fertilizers.
